My photobook : Apparitions
Apparitions is the title of an exhibition I've made at university, but it's also the name of my first photobook
The few members who have meet me in devmeets this year have this seen it.
This photobook has been made with MyFuji, it's a 30*30cm 56 pages glossy HD. The book is a hard cover, you can compose everything, from the cover to the background of each page.
I've chosen a black background to give more contrast to the pictures, it works very well but the glossy paper is very sensitive to finger stains. Hopefully you can clean it quite easily with a cloth.
One of the cool features of this book it the way it's made, pages are printed on a 30*60 size and their back are glued together. This allows making double pages pictures without any page separation and allows to have a book flat on the table.
About the print quality, the colours are excellent and the glossy paper help with saturated colours. The print is made on real photo paper, so there is no pattern visible in the details. The only problem is the dpi not really high, the picture you can see as been made in macro, the helmet is about 15mm on the page and you can see that there is not much details below 0.5mm in size, the dpi is probably about 100.
With a matte finish you can find other photobooks with higher dpi, but you will have patterns on the picture and the colour saturation will be lower. There is no perfect solution.
To finish a word about the price : 100 euros. It's expensive.
I'm extremely satisfied and proud of this book, so I want a new one at the end of this year. This gives me a strong motivation for creating new things
I know this is damn expensive but DeviantArt should really propose this kind of product in the print service. I would be far more interested in a 100 euros book than a framed print.
